Turkey: A Country for all tastes – Part 1

BACK
Turkey

I personally consider Turkey as one of the most glorious countries in the world.
If there is one country that I would love to go back to over and over again, it would be Turkey. Every country displays some diversity, but Turkey has it all– from its historical value, nature, shopping, and even the food. This country is blessed with everything!

The ideal trip for this country is at least 10 days and I would not recommend going by yourself. The best way is joining a group tour so that you could go around Turkey. Since, going on a group would be a lot cheaper to go around Turkey than by yourself. Don’t worry. I’ll be going there again next year and I’ll be happy to tour you around. J

Here a simple ideal route for you to enjoy Turkey:

I don’t think I could tell you everything in just one entry. I have a lot reasons why Turkey should be in your bucket list for your next travel.

Let me start with:

Istanbul
Istanbul embraces two continents all at once with one arm on Asia and the other on Europe. It is Istanbul’s endless variety that fascinates its visitors. The Museum, Grand Mosques, palaces, bazaars, and sights of natural beauty seem innumerable.

Turkey2
A nice scene to start with is the Blue Mosque, also known as the Imperial Sultanahmet. The most famous landmark in Istanbul, it’s famous for its magnificent interior paneling of blue and white Iznik tiles and considered the most beautiful mosque.

Visit Topkapi Palaces and Dolmabahçe Palace, the most beautiful palaces I’ve ever seen.

“Topkapi Palace: This opulent palace is the subject of more colorful stories than most of the world’s museums put together. It was the home of Selim the Sot, who drowned in the bath after drinking too much champagne; ?brahim the Crazy, who lost his reason after being locked up for four years in the infamous palace kafes; and Roxelana, beautiful and malevolent consort of Süleyman the Magnificent.” – Lonely Planet Review

Bosphorus cruise. A stay in Istanbul is not complete without a traditional and unforgettable boat excursion up the Bosphorus– that winding strait that separates Europe and Asia. During the cruise, you will pass the magnificent palaces, green parks, and Imperial pavilions.

Grand Bazaar. One could visit Istanbul for the shopping alone. The Grand bazaar in the old city is the logical place to start. This labyrinth of streets and passages comprises more than 4000 shops!

Atuturk Mausoleum in Ankara
This is a must see in Turkey. A mausoleum that was built after their National hero – Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. The Mausoleum was believed to represent the Turkish Nation under the name and personality of Ataturk. Therefore it includes statues, inscriptions and relief topic from Turkish history and Ataturks life.

Experiencing the Culture and cuisine
Turkish cuisine is considered to be among the best in the world. So many civilizations and so many styles have contributed to today’s cuisine. And what better way to discover their customs than with a cultural show while enjoying your Mediterranean food.

“Treat Turkey as that most quintessential of Turkish dishes, the meze, a table piled high with scrumptious treats. Throw away the menu, order a plate of everything and feast till you can’t go on. Afiyet olsun!” –Lonely Planet

Baklava- a thin layer of flaky pastry stuffed with almond paste, walnuts, or pistachio nuts in syrup. Absolutely amazing!
